“Healthcare before Houses”
Plans for 4000+ new houses between Didcot and Harwell – known as ‘Valley Park’ – would form a new housing development equivalent to the size of Wallingford. The three existing GP surgeries in Didcot are already overstretched and under immense pressure, approaching dangerous levels. Currently patient numbers are approaching 50,000, and Valley Park would bring another 10,000 residents to the area.
Given the sheer size of the Valley Park proposal, we are extremely concerned that primary medical care (in the form of GP surgery provision) does not constitute part of the planned development.
The GWP healthcare centre should have been opened by the 1500th occupation. All 3000+ houses on GWP are almost complete but the healthcare centre is not yet built – it does not even have planning permission.
Liberal Democrats across the county are campaigning for infrastructure before new housing, including vital medical infrastructure. Valley Park must not go ahead until:
